Some 40 artworks and ceramic sculptures have been put on display.

Albert said he might have carved parts of human beings in his arts but he left it for the viewers to make their interpretations since they were carved and painted into identifiable shapes and patterns.

He has meaningfully transformed lumps of clay into creative art having definitive textures and figures. At preliminary look, his work looks much like Kama Sutra with semi-abstract images of sexual intimacies.

The price of the paintings and the sculptures ranges from Rs 7,000 to Rs 20,000. Am Abend Welcomediner mit dem Guide

02. Tag: KathmanduSightseeing Kathmandu (mit oder ohne Mountainbike)

18. Among the two major market segments, the Indian market rebounded strongly with 110% increase while the non-Indian market elevated by 70% on an average. This was based on the figures provided by Immigration Office, Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal. The SAARC segment grew tremendously high last month with the huge growth from Indian market, followed by Bangladesh (203%), Pakistan (171.9%) and Sri Lanka (346.2%). The Asian segment too registered an immense growth of 137.4% with Japanese arrivals escalating by 90.3% along with Chinese (267%). The other markets to rise were Malaysia (90%), Singapore (81.6%), Thailand (167.1%) as well as South Korea (177.5%) and ROC Taiwan (135.6%). European arrivals secured one-third market share during the month, with encouraging growth from major generating markets like UK (44.5%), France (58.4%) and Germany (83.6%). Except Austria which declined marginally by 7.5% rest of the European markets showed a sharp upward trend like Italy (73.4%), the Netherlands (62.3%), and Spain (9.9%). The Australian market too increased by 32.7% while USA registered a sharp incline of 92.6%.The demand for Nepal as preferred destination has lately improved by many fold mainly due to two major reasons; the enhanced destination image resulting from peace and stability within the country, and a slightly better air connectivity. However, the shortage of air seats continues to hamper further growth as industry sources say that many groups had to be cancelled due to lack of air seats. Additionally the individual and FIT segment has risen drastically while a parallel trend has not been observed in package tours yet.

Latest News of Nepal, News, nuwakot, Tourism Board of Nepal, News, travel advisor information and so on...

NUFFIC Participants Visit Rasuwa to Witness STD Initiatives in Nepal

As an essential part of the training schedule, trainers and participants of the NTB-initiated NUFFIC tailor-made programme on sustainable tourism development visited the newly developed Tamang Heritage Trail, Rasuwa, from Feb. 5 -10, 2007, for a first-hand experience of the sustainable tourism development initiatives in Nepal. This happened exactly in a beautiful sal grove, which is now a focal point of the Lumbini Garden area. Maya Devi, the queen of Sakya King Suddhodana of Kapilavastu, while passing through the Lumbini Garden, on the day of ‘Vaisakha Poornima’ (the Full Moon-Day of May 623 BC), took a bath in the Pushkarni (the Sacred Pond) and soon after she took support of a tree branch, then gave birth to the Crown Prince Siddhartha, who became Buddha. The Lumbini Garden covers an area of 1x3 sq. miles (2.56 sq. km) and compasses three zones each covering one square mile connected with walkways and a canal. The area has a sub-tropical monsoon climate with a warm wet season.

Lumbini re-discovered
The history of Lumbini was re-established with the visit of the Mauryan Emperor Asoka, who made a pilgrimage in 249 BC and erected a stone pillar bearing an inscription stating ‘Hida Budhe Jate Sakyamuniti’ which means that Sakyamuni Budha was borned here. After his visit structural activities started to mark the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. He worshipped the nativity tree, the bathing tank and also visited the other surrounding historical sites such as Kapilavastu, Ramgrama and Niglihawa.
Later on, three famous Chinese pilgrims - Tseng Tsai (4th century A.D.), Fa-Hsien (5th century A.D.) and Hiuen-Tsang (7th century A.D.) visited Lumbini. Hiuen Tsang’s travel account gives a detailed description of the area, including the Ahsokan Pillar with a horse carved on the top of it. King Ripu Malla (1312 A.D.) of Karnali, marked his visit by an engraving on the Asokan Pillar after 14 century A.D. the site were forgotten, neglected and shrouded in bushes. The association of Lumbini with the Buddha went slowly to oblivion (for almost 600 years), and the name Lumbini gradually changed to Rummindei and then to Rupandehi, the present name of the district.

In the process of an archaeological survey in 1896, General Khadga Shamsher Rana and Dr. Fuhrer discovered the Asokan Pillar in Lumbini, and the birth history has been established from the Lost Horizons. In the 1930s, General Keshar SJB Rana carried out a large-scale excavation at Lumbini and covered up the archaeological site with a view to strengthen the Maya Devi Temple. The most important archeological discoveries in Lumbini are Buddha’s nativity, the gold casket, charred human bones, the terracotta sculpture of a Bodhisattva, human heads Marker stone.

For decades the sacred place remained neglected. In 1956, on the occasion of the fourth world Buddhist conference, late King Mahendra personally visited Lumbini and wanted to improve it. Further, the pilgrimage of the UN Secretary General (U.Thant) proved a milestone of the modern history of Lumbini. Deeply influenced by Lumbini’s sanctity, U.Thant wanted the government of Nepal to develop Lumbini as an international pilgrimage and a tourist center in 1970, Prof. Kenzo Tange of Japan was assigned to create the Lumbini Master Plan, which was approved by the government in 1978. Now, the Lumbini Development Trust, (formed in 1985) is responsible for the overall development of Lumbini.

Rural tourism development in Lumbini
Lumbini is a pilgrimage attraction for more than 30 million Buddhists around the world, and more than 50,000 Buddhist pilgrims visit Lumbini every year. It is also equally popular among non-Buddhist visitors. This attraction of Lumbini can also be developed into rural tourism which can make significant contribution to the local economy, thereby reducing poverty in the rural areas. Taking this into consideration, since 2001, the Tourism for Rural Poverty Alleviation Programme (TRPAP) has been launched to develop rural tourism in Lumbini and other areas of Nepal. It is a joint initiative of Government of Nepal, the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, the Netherlands Development Organization and the United Nations Development Programme. The District Development Committee has been involved in implementing the programme. The TRPAP is implemented in and around seven Village Development Committees around Lumbini, namely.
The TRPAP aims to reduce poverty and conserve the natural and cultural heritage of Lumbini. It helps the poor communities to enhance capacity for sustainable rural tourism through various supports, such as training, skill development, establishment of village tourism development fund, improvement of infrastructure, and by building institutional mechanisms and developing policies. The programme has adopted ‘bottom-up’ and community participatory approaches.
You can actively participate in rural tourism development by using the local products and services, such as food, handicrafts, hotels, lodges, guides and rickshaws. ┼ Strolling around the lumbini garden
The renowned Japanese architect Kenzo Tange’s Masterplan includes canals, gardens, library, museum, monastic zones and areas for amenities. The areas are linked with the Central Link (1.5km long corridor canal flanked by two brick pedestrian walkways), designed to help visitors prepare for their visit to the Sacred Garden and the monasteries. For the guidance, follow the red line in the map. The first impression on visiting Lumbini may disappoint the international visitors because the Master Plan is not complete.
LUMBINI CULTURAL SITE
Your visit can start from the Lumbini Museum, containing ancient coins, religious manuscripts, terra-cotta fragments, and stone and metal sculptures. On the other side you will see The Lumbini International Research Institute, a peculiar architectural design, that provides research facilities for the study of Buddhism and other religions, and contains over 12,000 religion, philosophy, art and architecture books. Besides, there are Peace Hall (Auditorium), Archaeological Office, High School
Complex, Boat Station, Lumbini Square, Symbolic Pavilion and Camping Ground, all of which are yet to be completed. Passing through the Friendship Bridge, the symbol of coexistence, one will enter the Monastic Enclaves, bisected by the proposed Central Link, where there are 42 plots allotted for new monasteries of Theravada and Mahayana sects of Buddhism. To the east, 9 out of 13 Monasteries have benn constructed and to the west, 19 out of 29.
THERAVADA MONASTIC ZONE
This route enters the Eastern Lane of the Theravada Monastic Zone, crossing the Thai Monastery and Stupas, built by the Government of Thailand. The architectural design is typical to Thai environs. There after, one will of India, Kolkatta; neighboring is one built by the Buddhist Society of West Bengal, India. One will pass the Burma Temple and the monastery built by the Government of Myanmar. Next one passes the Lankan Monastery constructed by the Government of Ceylon followed by one built by the International Gautami Nun Society, Nepal – a typical monastery replicated from Swayambhu, with the Buddhist philosophy of thirteen cosmetic steps to Nirvana and three pinnacle-stages. One can enter

to Nepal Vipasana Center and easily learn the meditation practice and methods. All the monasteries also provide meditation practice. Further information can be sought from the temporary Tourist Information Center, nearby. After being immersed deeply in the serenity of the spiritual atmosphere, one will enter the Sacred Garden after passing, the symbol of peace and prosperity of human existence – the Eternal Peace Flame.

For the further Details visit us at: www.sundarnbepal.com, or www.gokyotreksnepal.com
or mail me at any time: ammarguni@hotmail.com or info@sundarnepal.com

Nepal's latest Everest Summiter climber, Appa Sherpa...

Appa atop for countdown no 17

Nepal's celebrated mountaineer Appa Sherpa scaled the world's highest peak Mount Everest for a record 17th time on Wednesday, May 16, 2007. More than anything else, it's birthplace of Buddha 'Light of Asia' who led the world towards peace and serenity. That's why we always have religious tolerance. There has been tradition of brotherhood between every caste, creed and religion and therefore Nepal always enjoys the distinction being only Hindu Kingdom in the world though there is harmonious confederacy of several religions and creeds. Nevertheless, for the past some years, entirely due to political instability, image of Nepal has been deteriorated in the international world for ongoing argument between rebel party "Maoist" and government. There is no hesitation to say that thanks to selfish attitude of some so - called high - standing leaders, the tension has been emerged. Recently, after the royal proclamation, the things are getting positive gradually in Nepal . But in fact, Nepal is absolutely safe for to travel and other purposes. There is nothing to despair regarding security concern. The thing is that the way, which the rebel party - Maoists have chosen, is not aimed at foreigners, rather they are traumatized only about entire political regime of Nepal . Truly they have got high sense of humanity. Till the moment, no distressful remark has been experienced from them in the field of tourism industry. As a matter of fact, they are no more concerned with commoners nor with foreign people. We have been operating our trekking / touring activities successfully without any interruption all through kingdom. We want to assure that Nepal is completely safe for the tourist destination and no frustrating mystery will remain while doing traveling with us. Find out how considerately friendly the Nepalese people are. It definitely looks the part, rising like a lone apparition form the windswept alpine meadows that surround it on all sides. On its immaculate white 22,000-foot summit legend says, the worlds of humankind and gods meet. Pilgrims come from as far away as the tropical plains of southern India and beyond to walk the ancient, shrine studded pilgrims trails that circle the base of the holy-peak. Following in their footsteps, walking alongside rugged nomads, Hindu holy men and jewel-adorned aristocrats on horseback, it is easy to believe, as they do, that a single pilgrimage around Kailash burns away a thousand years of ignorance and bad karma. Breathing that rarefied air, eyes filled with brilliant rock, snow and sky, passing a veritable Canterbury Tales-worth of medieval style fellow travellers, magic seems logical, the power of the place undeniable. Before or after completing the circuit, the group will visit the exquisite turquoise color Lake Manasarovar , also considered to be very sacred.

Good Health: Even though participants do not need to submit any health certificate those with a history of medical problems, particularly cardiac or respiratory, should consult a doctor before deciding to undertake the trip.
